Certified EHR Technology: Eligible Professionals

The Medicaid Promoting Interoperability Program requires the use of Certified Electronic Health Record Technology (CEHRT). Standards, implementation specifications, and certification criteria for EHR technology have been adopted by the Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services. EHR technology must be certified by an ONC-Authorized Testing and Certification Body (ONC-ATCB) in order to qualify for the incentive payments. The Certified Health IT Product List is available here.

For Program Year 2018, all providers must attest to objectives and measures using the 2014 Edition Certified EHR technology (CEHRT) or 2015 CEHRT or a combination of the two.

If attesting to Stage 3 in Program Year 2018, providers must use technology certified to the 2015 edition or a combination of the 2014 and 2015 edition if the mix of certified technologies would not prohibit them from meeting the Stage 3 measures.

Beginning with Program Year 2019, all providers must attest using the 2015 Edition CEHRT.
