In May 2006, Florida became one of 33 states and one U.S. territory participating in a national collaboration to study and make recommendations regarding privacy and security practices affecting interoperable health information exchanges. The Florida Privacy and Security Project is part of the national Health Information Security and Privacy Collaboration.Through this Project, the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) has subcontracted with Research Triangle Institute (RTI) International under the leadership of the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology, and the National Governor's Association. The contract is administered by AHCA's Bureau of Florida Center for Health Information and Policy Analysis and the Governor's Health Information Infrastructure Advisory Board (Board) is the Steering Committee.
