One of the goals of the Florida Privacy and Security Project is to establish clear and concise standards for health information exchange, including analysis of Florida Statutes related to health information exchange. Initial draft legislation has been posted to begin the process of addressing some components of health information exchange legislation including definitions related to electronic health information, patient rights, responsibilities of stakeholders, the role of regional health information organizations (RHIOs), penalties to deter misuse, and certain inconsistencies in current law related to health records.
The draft legislation will be posted for public comment until December 20, 2007. Written comments received during this period will be posted in all applicable comment categories (see below). You may submit comments at any time during the comment period. Please provide your name, contact information, and the organization you represent when submitting your comments. You may e-mail your comments to: FLHII@ahca.myflorida.com.
