Office of Research and Development
The Office of Research and Development within the Florida Center conducts research on health care issues, analyzes trends in health care and coordinates research support for the Health Information Exchange Coordinating Committee, which is part of Florida's Health Information Infrastructure, and the State Consumer Health Information and Policy Advisory Council.
This unit is charged with numerous responsibilities relating to Chapter 2004-297, Laws of Florida (HB 1629). For the full text, please visit http://www.leg.state.fl.us/.

Health Care Initiatives:
- Developing Hospital and Ambulatory Surgery Performance Measures
- Preparing the Florida Center Annual Report including the Long-Range Plan and Facility Performance Data Status Report
- Developing a web portal for consumers listing the top 50 prescribed drugs and their retail prices
- Providing research/grant development support for the GHIIAB
- Staffing the Advisory Council and technical advisory work group meetings
- Preparing the statutorily mandated publication, "Choosing a Quality Health Plan: Florida HMO Report"
- Developing the Health Care Expenditures Report
- Rule Development for the Health Plan Costs and Benefits
- Participation in the Confidential Data Review Committee
- Developing an Emergency Department Utilization Report
- Developing a Physician Data Information System
- Preparing the annual Caesarean Delivery Report
