Choice Counseling

Contractor: Florida State University

Agency Contract Number: MED033

Contract Period: Feb. 14, 2006 – June 30, 2007, renewed for July 1, 2007 – June 30, 2008

This contract with The Florida State University (FSU) was to develop the following components of Choice Counseling materials for Medicaid reform:

  1. Hold focus groups at the two area offices and at AHCA to gather essential information needed for the project components.
  2. Creation of an easy to read multi-language recipient flyer and website so recipients could understand the Medicaid Reform changes before choosing a health care provider.
  3. Development of an on-line course and certification examination and a qualification evaluation which is delivered with a face-to-face or telephone-to-telephone interview .
  4. Creation of a Choice Counselor Toolbox containing resource used by the face-to-face and telephone Choice Counselors.
  5. Creation of an informational DVD that highlighted reasons for and key elements of Medicaid Reform.
  6. Perform an evaluation to monitor the information, training, and counseling processes.
