Provides and Analyzes Data and Merge Data Files Related to
Maternal and Child Health Services Provided by Medicaid
Contractor: Florida State University Center for Prevention and Early
Intervention Policy
Agency Contract Number: M0417
Contract Period: July 20, 2003 through June 30, 2004
Brief Description of Goals of Contract:
The Agency for Health Care Administration has contracted with the Lawton and
Rhea Chiles Center at the University of South Florida for the past five years
to provide and analyze data and merge data files related to maternal and child
health services provided by Medicaid. The Chiles Center works in collaboration
with the Maternal and Child Health and Education Research and Data Center at
the University of Florida to complete the data merging, analyses, and produce
major papers based on the findings.
Through cooperation with the Agency, the Department of Health, the Department
of Children and Families, and the Department of Education, through this contract
we now have the capacity to merge data files from each of these departments
to determine the impact of programs and services provided by each on the health
outcomes of mothers, infants, and young children. This capacity to link and
merge data files has now reached a level of sophistication that the Chiles Center,
in partnership with the Research Center and the departments mentioned above,
can provide the Agency and the state with valuable information to guide future
policy and practice decisions.
