Colleen Porter, MA
UF Project Coordinator for the Florida Health Insurance Study

 

Colleen Porter came to the University of Florida in 1998. She has managed telephone surveys of health insurance coverage in Florida, Indiana, Kansas and Miami-Dade County. Ms. Porter has conducted several studies regarding survey methodology, and has experience in telephone, mail and in-person surveys. She worked for the Census Bureau, both in primary data collection for recurring economic surveys (CPS, SIPP) and also as a consultant, developing interviewer training materials. Ms. Porter earned a master's degree in Journalism from the University of Texas at Austin. At Texas, she spent three years at the Office of Survey Research, including a stint as field director for the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System and assisting with a groundbreaking study on behavior and attitudes regarding HIV. She has also worked as a newspaper editorial writer and columnist, covering health care and education issues.
