Alan Levine is the Secretary of the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration.
Prior to this, he was Deputy Chief of Staff and Health Policy Advisor
to Florida Governor Jeb Bush - the Chief Executive of the nation's fourth
largest state.
Levine has served in a variety of positions in healthcare leadership.
At age 29, he was the youngest hospital Chief Executive Officer in Florida,
and among the youngest in the nation, having been appointed as the CEO
of Doctors' Memorial Hospital in Perry. More recently, Levine was the
Chief Executive Officer of South Bay Hospital in Sun City Center, prior
to being tapped by Governor Bush to lead the Governor's health and human
services team.
Levine has served on a variety of Boards, including the Board of Directors
of the Florida Hospital Association, the Florida Center for Nursing, the
Alternative Education Institute, Association of Community Hospitals and
Health Systems, Boys and Girls Club, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, and
Junior Achievement. Additionally, he has served as Chairman of Boy Scouts
of America's Twin Rivers District, President of the Pasco County Gator
Club and served as a member of the Board of the West Pasco Chamber of
Commerce.
Levine was most recently recognized by the Tampa Bay Business Journal
- with the "40 under 40 award" - as an emerging Business Leader in the
Tampa Bay Area.
Levine received his bachelor's degree in health education (1990), masters
in business administration and masters in healthcare administration (1992)
from the University of Florida. While at the University of Florida, Levine
was an active student leader with involvement spanning his service as
the elected Treasurer of the Student Body to playing an active role in
the planning and expansion of the student recreation and fitness facilities
on campus. His leadership was recognized by his induction to the University
of Florida Hall of Fame, and his service to the University continues through
his involvement on the Advisory Board to the College of Health Professions.
Levine is married to his wife, Laura, and enjoys spending time with his
son, Terry, and daughter, Kathryn. He spends his spare time coaching youth
football, snow-skiing, and enjoying Gator athletics.
