John M. Knight received his undergraduate degree in 1971 from the School of International Service at American University in Washington, D.C., and his law degree in 1974 from Florida State University College of Law. Mr. Knight has been the General Counsel of the Florida Medical Association since he joined the FMA in November 1996. He also serves as one of the lobbyists on behalf of the FMA. Prior to joining the Florida Medical Association, Mr. Knight was in private practice in Tallahassee. His practice primarily involved the representation of clients in regulatory matters unique to the health care industry. Mr. Knight represented hospitals and nursing homes in disputes with the Agency for Health Care Administration in budget review, certificate of need matters, license and other regulatory matters. He also represented physicians in disputes with the Florida Board of Medicine.
