Ralph Glatfelter was born and raised in the Orlando area and graduated
from the University of Florida. Glatfelter began his professional career
representing Attorney General Robert Shevin in his legislative office.
He was appointed by Shevin to serve as the Executive Director of the Florida
Drug Abuse Prevention and Education Trust, a non-profit organization devoted
to training counselors and community leaders in drug abuse prevention.
Ralph Glatfelter's hospital career began when he served as Director of
Planning and Development for University Hospital in Pensacola. He next
served as the Director of Information for the state's Health Care Cost
Containment Board. In 1983, he joined the Florida League of Health Systems,
where he was appointed President and CEO in 1986. Glatfelter worked for
the League for 18 years prior to joining the Florida Hospital Association
as Senior Vice President following the merger of the three state hospital
associations.
Ralph Glatfelter is one of the senior lobbyists with the Florida Hospital
Association and represents Florida's hospitals on regulatory issues such
as CON and reimbursement issues including HMO payments, workers compensation
and other non-government payers.
