Andrew Behrman is the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Florida
Association of Community Health Centers. Since coming on board in 2002,
he has focused the association's attention on legislative and governmental
affairs, marketing and advocacy issues, and community and partnership
development. Mr. Behrman has worked with community health centers for
nearly 20 years. Prior to his current position, he was the CEO of the
Lake Okeechobee Rural Health Network and served as its founding CEO for
7 years. The Network successfully launched a managed care product in 1998
in partnership with an insurance company to provide coverage in a commercial
setting as well as for the working uninsured. After a successful operation
for 2 years, the managed care product received certification to operate
as a Medicaid HMO.
Mr. Behrman was the Executive Director for the Everglades AHEC Center,
the first AHEC in Florida, and was involved in developing the Florida
AHEC Network. Mr. Behrman began his career in health services at Mount
Sinai Medical Center, in Miami. He has an extensive background in assisting
other organizations primarily in board training and leadership strategies
relating to business development. He has authored numerous articles and
publications in areas of healthcare, strategic development, organizational
dynamics, and leadership and has presented at state and national conferences.
He holds a BS in Health Services Administration, and an MBA from the University
of Florida. Mr. Behrman completed his military service as a Naval Aviator
and served in Vietnam.
