The initial implementation of electronic health records incentive program has been extremely successful. Florida health care providers have significantly expanded the use of electronic health records. To date, over $424M in incentives has been distributed to Florida providers. The participation in this program in the current state fiscal year has exceeded expectation and the appropriated funding has been distributed. Applications will continue to be accepted, but the Agency does not anticipate distributing any more funds. Additional information, when available, will be posted on the website.
In order to receive payments from the Florida Medicaid EHR Incentive Program, Eligible Professionals (EPs) and Eligible Hospitals (EHs) must attest that they have met all eligibility and participation requirements. These requirements will vary depending on the provider’s program participation year.
Through the completion of the on-line application, the provider is attesting that they have met all program requirements for the payment year in which they are applying. For each payment year, the provider must meet basic program eligibility criteria and volume requirements. For the initial payment year (which requires adoption, implementation, or upgrade (AIU)) to certified technology) the provider must also include documentation supporting AIU. Once a provider moves to the second and subsequent payment years, the provider must attest to meeting meaningful use measures. Providers are required to maintain documentation that supports their attestations for a period of six years.
