Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care (PPEC)
Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care (PPEC) centers are non-residential health care centers for Medicaid eligible children from birth through age 20 with medically-complex conditions and require continuous therapeutic or skilled nursing supervision. PPECs include an array of services focused on meeting the medical, developmental, physical, nutritional, and social needs of the children who require short, long-term, or intermittent services. When approved, children can attend a PPEC up to a maximum of 12 hours per day while their parents or guardians are unavailable to care for them. PPECs provide a less restrictive alternative to institutionalization, and reduce the isolation that homebound children may experience.
Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care (PPEC) Provider Qualifications
To enroll as a Medicaid provider, a PPEC must be licensed pursuant to Chapter 391, Florida Statutes, and be in compliance with Chapter 59A-13, Florida Administrative Code.
A PPEC located in Alabama or Georgia that provides services to Florida Medicaid recipients may enroll as an in-state Florida Medicaid provider. However, the PPEC must be licensed in its respective state.
