Community Resources
(850) 413-9662

The Office of Community Resources represents the Agency with the private sector and community organizations for promoting statewide partnership programs. In doing so, we communicate the mission of the Agency to the community at large.

Mentoring
The AHCA Mentoring Program is part of the Governor's Mentoring Initiative that was created in 1999 to increase the number of mentors and tutors in Florida for children in our pubic schools by working closely with state and local mentor partner groups. Members of the House of Representatives have signed a petition stating that: "Mentoring is a low-cost program with great potential impact in the state. It might be Florida's most cost effective investment into the future."

Internship
As part of the Governor's Internship Initiative we administer the Agency's Internship Program by opening and maintaining lines of communication between the Agency and the 11 universities, the 28 community colleges and the independent, propriety and vocational educational institutions. AHCA's Internship Program provides undergraduate and graduate students with skill building, practical learning work experience.

Front Porch Florida
At AHCA the Medicaid Area Office staff work with the local Front Porch liaisons to provide Agency support to communities presently working toward holistic community revitalization. Front Porch Florida is designed to provide those communities the means by which to participate in the process to once again take back their neighborhoods and make it an exciting place to live, work and play. With the Office of Urban Opportunity and other Agencies, this office coordinates efforts to assist the Front Porch Florida communities in identifying programs for which residents may be eligible and maintain an awareness of grant opportunities that may become available to those communities.

Outreach and Special Projects
The Office of Community Resources represents the Agency on statewide and interagency workgroups such as: Medicaid Beneficiary education and outreach efforts, Capitol for a Day, Just Read, Florida! and in promoting health issues and awareness at the Agency and in the community.
