The Bureau of Information Technology is a utility service provider to AHCA
(and its customers) for automated business systems with connectivity to voice
and data networks through a variety of computing platforms. It is an instrumental
force in creating an information-enabled workforce.
Infrastructure Support
This includes keeping the statewide Agency network running, email, Agency databases,
printing, and backups. Also includes: wireless devices, switches, routers,
Practice Manager for Legal, remote dialup, virus protection, internet usage
monitoring, internet access, tape loads, central printing services, backup
generator, power protection, fire suppression, account administration, shared
storage for individuals and groups, processing of public records requests.
Software/hardware selection, upgrade, troubleshooting and replacement.
Applications Development & Support
This section provides applications development and support of Agency automated
business process applications. This area is also responsible for developing
and maintaining the Agency's websites and Freedom data warehouse.
Customer Support
This function provides direct support to Agency staff in the use of their computing
resources. Helpdesk support, support call routing and escalation management.
Personal computer selection, implementation, upgrade, replacement, moves,
and changes. Working with maintenance providers to get units repaired, limited
desk side assistance, tips & tricks, consultation on the appropriate
equipment to perform certain activities. Support for telephones - ordering,
making changes to programming, working with telephone companies.
Administrative Support
Processing all software/hardware purchases. Keeping track of certain IT assets
- inventory. IT staff recruitment & selection. Budgeting. LBR's, LRPP,
ERP&M.
General IT Management
Strategic planning, technology architecture, life cycle planning, project management,
HIPAA, security, policies and procedures, disaster recovery, contract review
and management, day-to-day management, priority setting.
